1 Week From Today

Posted by Amanda

One week from today is Christmas Day. Every child will wake up at the crack of dawn and race to the Christmas tree to see what Santa brought them. The grown-ups will grab their first cup of hot coffee. Then as soon as all of the gifts are unwrapped, breakfast ensues- if anybody feels up to it since the night before will most likely consume of drinking and eating until you are too full!

Then, as the present hoopla calms down and the kids fall asleep in the mounds of wrapping paper, it’s time to start cooking once again. The holiday dinner is afoot!

I still have yet to finish my holiday shopping- let alone any cooking. That’s what I will be doing today. I will head to Home Depot for one gift then head to a different store for another gift. I also still need to send my Christmas cards. Usually I am ahead of schedule and have a week and a half to relax, but at the last minute, I amm running around and getting everything finished.

One way or another, this will be a no-stress holiday!!

Butterflies are beautiful and exotic and graceful. Some people may be afraid of them, but not I. I love them and always have. I think they are majestic!! If you like or love butterflies, then I have a website you may like. It’s called Cool Butterflies. Here you can buy prints of butterflies in all shapes, sizes and colors. Oh yeah, and in different settings.

The sizes for the prints are 8×8 inch and up. They are a little expensive though, ranging from $40 to $60. The quality of the print makes up for the price. The quality is fantastic! You can see every detail. The coloring is vibrant and amazing. It’s not printed on your normal computer paper. It will be sent to you printed on high quality photo paper. You also get to choose your paper finish: matte or glossy.

The photos from all the contributing artists are different. You will not see the same picture twice and each one is stunning.

So if you know someone who likes butterflies or want to purchase one for yourself, visit Cool Butterflies Prints.

Use this coupon code to get 25% off ANY order: Confetti. It expires 12/31/09.

MyLipStuff Review

Posted by Amanda

During the winter season, my lips become dry and chapped. This is why I am so thankful for the invention of lip balm! I also have the bad habit, if I don’t have Chapstick, of licking my dry lips over and over. I know that it makes it worse, but I can’t help it! I used to think that it would help the chapped lips. It doesn’t!

I am grateful for finding MyLipStuff. Their lip balm has no petroleum or mineral oil. So basically, it’s chemical free. Which for those that like natural lip balms, this would tickle your fancy.

I love flavored lip balms. The more they taste like they are suppose to, the more I fall in love with it. MyLipStuff has over 500 flavors to choose from. I was able to try and review 6 of those 500 flavors: Coconut, Rainbow Sherbet, Pumpkin Crunch Cake, Pancakes & Syrup, Key Lime Pie and Candy Cane. All of them were great! They all tasted like their name-sake. I hope to go through all 500 flavors before I leave this Earth.

They also don’t just sell lip balms. They sell a variety of bath products, so if you’re looking for a stocking stuffer for anyone on your list, MyLipStuff will be perfect!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is Thanksgiving. Turkeys and/or hams are cooking, stuffing is being made, potatoes are being mashed and loved ones are gathering around the table. As we pass the sides around, we are all reminded of what we are thankful for. What am I thankful for? My family and many friends. Their health. And everyone who has been there for me this year. It has had it’s many up and downs, but at the end of the day, I’m thankful that I get to spend one more day with the ones I love.

We have a tradition in my household. Every Thanksgiving, in the evening, the whole family grabs bags of Christmas lights and drags it outside. That’s where we will spend an hour or so decorating the house just in time for Christmas! Most of the time it’s will be me, my father and my twin sister putting up the lights while mom supervises. That’s how it’s always been and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

So to my readers, I wish you a very Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!

Yes I know that Thanksgiving is not even here yet. However, I’m just so excited about the holidays! I even started listening to Christmas music in the month of September. Hey, don’t look so shocked. When you have a lot of Christmas music on your iPod, you get into the Christmas spirit even when its 90 degrees outside.

I’m almost finished with my shopping. Can you believe it? I only have a few more items to get.

Since everyone is having holiday sales, I’ve been doing some online browsing. When you have people on your Christmas list who like all kinds of different things, it can be hard to pinpoint one thing you think they’ll love. If you’re like me, you’ll be shopping in a store and pick up an item for that person on your list. 10 minutes later you find something else for that person. Now you can’t decide which one to choose, but you must choose one. Aah! Your head is going to explode! Christmas shopping? Fun and stress ensues.

So while I may wait until the last minute to get everything done, I’m more than excited about the holidays!

Whether you’re throwing a party or just a normal dinner, sometimes you need a little help with the menu. That’s where Relish! comes in!

logoThanks to the people at Relish!, I was given the opportunity to review their website.

What Is Relish?

We offer the plan to get you out of your dinner rut for good and to prepare healthy and creative dinners, every night. You choose your weekly recipes, the grocery list is tabulated, shop once a week and have all of the ingredients needed for five meals.

My Take: The website has so many great things about it! Since Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner, there are recipes for such special occasions! So for those people who don’t have any special recipes (like myself), you now can wow your friends!

I also like that you can add your own recipes. I have yet to add my own (remember, no special recipes?), but it would be useful to keep it all in one place. Also, you can create your own custom menu just by adding the recipe.

If that doesn’t tickle your face, the “Weekly Menu” feature will! First you select how many people you’ll be feeding. I picked 4. And as you can see, you just go on to create your own menu for that week.

After creating your menu, click the “Create Your Custom Menu” button to get your shopping list and recipes.

Turkey Craft

Posted by Amanda

r_969With Thanksgiving just around the corner, my sister and I felt a little creative. Actually, for Halloween we created our own decorations out of construction paper. We created spiders, witches, pumpkins, ghosts and much more. Then after Halloween was over, we decided to do something for Thanksgiving. So, we got out the construction paper once again and started drawing and cutting and gluing. Our finished product was a cute little turkey!

So if you and your kids are looking to do a little crafting this year for Thanksgiving, then here’s what you’ll need:

  • Construction paper
    • 5 brown (for the bodies)
    • 1 or 2 white (the faces)
    • different other colors (6 or 7 sheets should do it)
  • Marker
  • Elmer’s glue bottle/stick
  • Scissors
  • Crayons

Before any gluing begins, you have a little bit of drawing to do.

1rightarrow-48On each of the 5 pieces of brown construction paper, draw a circle right in the middle. Make the circle about medium-sized. The circles don’t need to be perfect. Make sure there are 5 circles. After drawing the circles, cut them out and set them aside. Remember, these are the bodies!

On the white sheets, draw smaller circles. Make sure the circles will be big enough for your little ones to draw the turkey’s face. Once you have finished drawing 5 of the circles, cut them out. Gluing comes later.

Grab the remaining colors! This one can be a bit tedious, but well worth it. On each sheet, make some feathers. Use your imagination. If you think the feathers need some kind of whimsical feel to it, have at it! Remember, this is you and/or your kids’ own personal turkey! Draw the feathers on each sheet. Make as many or as less as you want, but make sure you have enough to cover all 5 turkeys.

After cutting those all out, it’s time to bring in the kids! Set out the glue, the feather, the bodies, faces and crayons. Tell them to create their own turkey!

It’s fun for all ages (including this 24 year old) and now you have your very own turkey!!
